Rep. Richard DeBolt to co-chair the bipartisan Interim Task Force on Washington Waters

Rep. Richard DeBolt, R-Chehalis, has been appointed to the Interim Task Force on Washington Waters by House Republican Leader Dan Kristiansen, and will serve as co-chair with Rep. Derek Stanford, D-Shoreline. The initial meeting of the bipartisan group will take place on Monday, Oct. 5. DeBolt, who also serves as the ranking member on the House Capital Budget Committee, joins four other House Republicans appointed by Kristiansen.
The Interim Task Force on Washington Waters was created through the 2015-17 capital budget, and is made up of five Democratic members and five Republican members. The task force will work through the interim, and will look at three areas: storm water, flood control and water supply infrastructure in the state.
“This is about saving lives and livelihoods when the next flood comes. We must be prepared and not delay,” DeBolt said. “Flooding is the most costly natural disaster in our state – the better we can prepare for and prevent damage, the more our state will save in the long run.
The task force must report its findings and recommendations to the appropriate legislative committees by Nov. 15, 2015
